Governor Phil Murphy is praising the success school officials have had in terms of keeping coronavirus outbreaks down, while the teacher’s union claims he’s downplaying the risks.  The state has reported 56 school outbreaks infecting 239 students and staff, but the N-J-E-A says Murphy’s using misleading data to support his claims.  Governor Murphy argues with the numerous protective barriers, one-way stairways, and constant sterilization of surfaces, schools are some of the state’s safest indoor spaces.  Just yesterday, Murphy and the governors of New York, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts all signed a statement supporting the importance of in-person education.
