The WFDU-AM crew circa 1987 (can you spot me?)

“Can it be that it was all so simple then…or has time re-written every line?” Ah, the memories.  It was October of 1987 when I first stepped into the studios of WFDU-AM in Teaneck, NJ on the campus of Fairleigh Dickinson University.  I didn’t want to leave. “Hey can anyone have a radio show?” I asked the cool student General Manager who was sitting at his desk with his feet up wearing sunglasses about to take a cigarette brake.  His name was Joey…a total metal dude and had the complete rocker look to go along with it.  He was serious about his GM gig. “No,”  he responded, “but you can record a demo and we’ll see what you got.”  A demo? What I got? LOL, I didn’t have anything…or so I thought.  Actually, I had lots of experience taping my favorite songs on cassette (yes that old thing) and introducing songs in the privacy of my room.  I gleaned from that experience.  The demo wasn’t horrible and I managed to land a show playing smooth R&B slow jams in the middle of the day.  I was HOOKED!

Fast forward 33 years (good grief I’m old) and I’m blessed still be in this crazy radio world.  Never a dull moment, always interesting and entertaining. Stay tuned….
