The Kansas City Chiefs have only been Super Bowl Champions for a week, but it Central Jersey, we’re already looking ahead to the 2020 High School Football Season.
WCTC Sports will take a closer look at the upcoming season this week, coinciding with a Wednesday vote by the NJSIAA Executive committee that will finalize the playoff structure for 2020.
No major changes are expected, but a few loose ends left open for the upcoming year will be tied up.
Here are WCTC’s coverage plans for the week:
Tuesday: We’ll preview the NJSIAA’s Executive Committee Meeting, which will address a number of sports and topics. We’ll tell you what’s on the line for football, what may change and what may not for 2020.
Wednesday: You’ll get an official recap of any football action taken at the Executive Committee’s Wednesday meeting. A decision is expected on whether any changes should be made to how the final 2019 Strength Index numbers should be converted to the preseason 2020 values. We’ll let you know what the numbers are, and provide some analysis: what teams rose or fell the most in 2019?
Thursday: We’ll introduce a new statistic to look at that can help determine if your team will have an uphill climb or easier time making the playoffs, earning a home game, or a top seed. South River was 6-3 at the cutoff in 2019, but failed to qualify for the postseason. Will the Big Central merger solve the problem?
Friday: Stepping away from the analytical, we’ll take a closer look at the 2020 schedule for some intriguing matchups, and offer some additional notes on the debut Big Central slate.
