Firefighters are still tending to hot spots at a construction site in Bound Brook this morning where a seven-alarm blaze left one firefighter injured. Video of the incident shows a towering blaze, which pumped out so much smoke last night that the event showed up on local weather radar. Fire companies from several nearby communities had responded to the apartment complex under construction on Main Street. Power to more than two thousand people was knocked out as flames spread from the original blaze to another unoccupied building before destroying an electronics store and two homes.
Service on the Raritan Valley Line remains suspended between Bridgewater and Dunellen due to last night’s massive fire. As of 2 a.m., the suspension was still in place, and the rail company says morning rush service may be impacted. The seven-alarm blaze in Bound Brook was close to the tracks, leading to the suspension. Shuttle bus service is being provided.
