WCTC Sports will have coverage of Woodbridge and Somerville in their quests for state titles this weekend.

WCTC will have coverage of the last two remaining area high school football teams in the state playoff this Championship Weekend.

On Friday, undefeated Woodbridge visits Northern Highlands in the North Jersey, Section 1, Group 4 title game.  On Saturday, the South Jersey Group 3 championship will feature Somerville at Woodrow Wilson of Camden.

Coverage beings Friday, a half-hour earlier than usual, with Friday Night Football USA presented by St. Peter’s University Hospital.  Dom Savino hits the airwaves at 5:30.  The show is  chock full of info on the weekend, including:

  • Woodbridge Head Coach Joe LaSala and Northern Highlands Head Coach Greg Russo talk about the game
  • Colonia Head Coach Tom Roarty, whose team has played both Woodbridge and Northern Highlands
  • MyCentralJersey.com HS football analyst Marcus Borden breaks down Woodbridge-Northern Highlands
  • NJ Advance writer Bill Evans talks about Somerville-Woodrow Wilson in Saturday’s South Jersey Group 3 championship game

Then, at 6:15, it’s Central Jersey High School Football presented by Middlesex County Solid Waste Management, as WCTC’s Mike Pavlichko and Dom Savino call all the action of Woodbridge and Northern Highlands live from Allendale, NJ.

At halftime, we’ll have more, including an interview with Somerville Head Coach Dallas Whitaker previewing the Pioneers’ game Saturday against Woodrow Wilson.

After the game, on the postgame edition of Friday Night Football USA, we’ll be back with reaction from Woodbridge Coach Joe LaSala and more.

Saturday, it’s Senior Day for the Rutgers football team in its 2019 home finale against Michigan State.  Coverage starts at 9:30 am with the WCTC Rutgers Football Tailgate Party.  Rutgers Gameday presented by St. Peter’s University Hospital comes your way at 10:30, followed by the Learfield/IMG Pregame Show at 11, and kickoff at noon between the Scarlet Knights and Spartans at SHI Stadium.

Meanwhile, WCTC’s Mike Pavlichko will be at the Somerville-Woodrow Wilson CJ3 championship in Camden, Tweeting updates throughout the game.  After the Rutgers game, join Mike for Football USA presented by St. Peter’s University Hospital, live from the headquarters of the Courier-Post of Cherry Hill, where Mike will have postgame reaction from Somerville’s game, postgame from the Woodbridge game you may have missed, and all the scores around college football on the next-to-last weekend of the regular season.
