The NTSB is investigating Tuesday’s plane crash into a home in the Colonia section of Woodbridge. that occured late yesterday morning. The home was destroyed, while two homes next door caught fire. Luckily, no one on the ground was injured. Investigator in Charge Adam Gerhardt says The plane, a Cessna 414, was flying from Leesburg, Virginia to Linden Airport during extreme low visibility.
The pilot is being remembered as a renowned doctor. 74-year-old Michael Schloss was a cardiologist in New York and had a passion for flying.
Meanwhile Mayor John McCormac says a fundraising effort has been established to assist the families impacted by the plane crash. Woodbridge Township staff will be at the Evergreen Senior Center, located at 400 Inman Avenue in Colonia, on Wed., Oct. 30, Thurs., Oct. 31 and Fri., Nov. 1 from 8:30 AM to 8:30 PM and on Sat., Nov. 2 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM to receive donations. Donations in the form of checks payable to the Woodbridge Community Charity Fund and gift cards from established wholesale/retail outlets will be accepted.
