The Piscataway Chiefs are the Number One team in the preseason WCTC Central Jersey High School Football Top Ten. Dan Higgins’ ballclub returns leading rusher Juwon Jackson, who is poised to overtake the Number Two spot on the school’s all-time rushing list this season, just 260 yards behind Tevin Shaw entering the 2018 campaign.
The Chiefs are followed by Central Jersey Group 5 champion South Brunswick, which has to replace some key parts on offense. It’s a similar theme for Bridgewater-Raritan, the North 2 Group 5 runner up, which will have some key shoes to fill on the defensive side of things. St. Joseph of Metuchen is fourth, coming off a clean sweep in the GMC White Division. The Falcons remain in the White, but will play some bigger schools as the conference added a fourth division, turning some former Red Division teams into St. Joe’s opponents.
Following are the preseason rankings, with teams followed by their 2017 final rank and record:
- Piscataway (8-3, 6)
- South Brunswick (11-1, 1)
- Bridgewater-Raritan (11-1, 3)
