New York Governor Cuomo and New Jersey Governor Christie are issuing a joint letter to the CEO of Amtrak calling for a private operator at Penn Station. In the letter Thursday, the two governors say, "The situation at Penn Station has gone from bad to worse to intolerable. Drastic action must be taken to immediately remedy the situation." In the past few weeks, Penn Station has been the site of numerous track and switch problems, leading to massive delays and headaches for tens of thousands of commuters. The governors urged Amtrak to immediately bring in a "qualified private station operator," which must them be approved by New York and New Jersey.
