Leonia's Driving Ban Goes Into Effect This Morning

Leonia's ban on out-of-town drivers cutting through local streets goes into effect this morning.  That means unless you have a special yellow permit, you'll be fined 200-bucks if you try to use 60 side streets as a short cut to the George Washington Bridge.  The ban is in effect from 6 to 10 a.m. and 4 to 9 p.m. Mayor Judah Zeigler says thousands of cars being directed to Leonia by navigational apps, like Waze and Google Maps, are jeopardizing public safety.  A local lawyer has sued claiming Leonia is violating the public's right to freedom of travel.
