Longtime NBC "Today" show host Matt Lauer is out of a job after a colleague accused him of inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace. NBC News president Andy Lack notified staff of Lauer's firing shortly before this morning's show went on the air. Lack wrote that NBC officials received a detailed complaint from a colleague Monday night. According to Lack, it was the first complaint about Lauer's behavior in the more than 20 years he worked for NBC. But Lack said the network also was presented with reason to believe the complaint might not have been an isolated incident.
Lauer is the latest high-profile broadcast media personality to be fired over allegations of sexual misconduct. CBS and PBS fired Charley Rose earlier this month and Fox News fired Bill O'Reilly in February. The network axed Fox News founder Roger Ailes last year after former anchor Gretchen filed a sexual harassment suit that led to a 20-million dollar settlement.
