Harvey Nears Category 3 Strength

Over eight-million people are under Hurricane Warnings as Harvey churns about 140 miles southeast of Corpus Christi, Texas.  Forecasters say Harvey should make landfall as a Category Three just east of Corpus Christi near Rockport late tonight or early Saturday and it could bring "life-threatening" amounts of rain.  Harvey has strengthened to a Category Two storm, with maximum sustained winds of 100 miles-per-hour.  After hitting Corpus Christi, Harvey is expected to stall over the state.  Forecasters warn Harvey could be the biggest hurricane to hit the U.S. in 12 years, and caution that tornadoes are also in the mix as the outer bands start hitting.
