Things Going Relatively Smoothly For Transit Riders

Things appear to be going pretty smoothly for New Jersey Transit riders who have to adjust their commute all summer starting today for work at Penn Station. Most morning Morris and Essex line trains terminate in Hoboken and from there commuters can use their tickets to hop on the PATH, ferry or bus. Commuters say the Transit trains into Hoboken didn't appear to be any more crowded than usual. Transit officials warn customers the options going into the city may not be available for the commute home and to see their website for details.

Transit says between 7 and 8:30 this morning, roughly 800 people used the ferry and the four early New York bound trains were not overcrowded. PATH officials feel everything went smoothly this morning but warn there could be overcrowding coming home from the World Trade Center.
