Newark Strengthening Sanctuary City Status

The Mayor of Newark says he's signing an executive order that will strengthen its "sanctuary city" status. Mayor Ras Baraka is today detailing his ten-page executive order that he says protects the rights of undocumented immigrants.  He says the city continues to push against the Trump administration's attack on immigrant communities by providing all residents with municipal ID cards.  He notes that Newark police officers and other city officials do not inquire about immigration status when helping people or answering requests for service.
