Christie Compares Stigma Of Opioid Addiction To That Of HIV-AIDS

Governor Chris Christie is comparing the stigma of opioid addiction to that of HIV-AIDS from 30 years ago.  He spoke at Morristown Medical Center on Monday and walked doctors through New Jersey's new law limiting first-time prescriptions of the powerful painkiller to just five days.  The lame duck governor is urging doctors not to overprescribe and has made opioid drug abuse his signature issue.  Christie, who's President Trump's opioid czar, says nearly 16-hundred New Jerseyans overdosed in 2015.  That's two times the national rate.
