Student's Death Caused By Choking Game

The Superintendent of Schools in Bernards Township says the death of a student in February was due to the "choking game." In a letter to parents earlier this week, Superintendent Nick Markarian said this game, also known as "space monkey" or the "fainting game," involves young people who strangle themselves in an attempt to get a "rush of euphoria," as they regain consciousness.  The district did not name the student who died.  Three student in the district have died since March of last year.
