National Weather Service Responds To Governor Christie's Criticism

A bit of a dust up is blooming between the National Weather Service and Governor Christie. Christie criticized Tuesday's blizzard forecast as exaggerated and overhyped, calling it a big "underperformer." He also said he's had his fill of the NWS over the last seven-and-a-half-years.

Gary Szatkowski, the former chief meteorologist from the Mount Holly office, fired back by email. He wrote that the NWS deserves better treatment than that, considering its "outstanding service" during Superstorm Sandy.  He called the way New Jersey used that information "disastrous," saying he'd expect a "more reasonable perspective" from his governor.
