People have been preparing for the blizzard warning issued for our area. Forecasters say at least 18-inches of snow could fall starting overnight and continuing well into Tuesday afternoon. Shoppers are heading out to stock up on supplies like salt, and many stores are running low. The Lowe's in Paramus says it's run out of shovels, snow blowers, heaters and pumps.
People are being advised to stock up on batteries and flashlights and water, in case of downed trees and power outages. Wind gusts of up to 60 miles per hour are predicted in some places, which could trigger flooding on the Jersey Shore and other coastal areas.
